The She Devils took to the field with an extremely strong second team available and the game began in competitive fashion, with the Seoul Sisters putting in some heavy hits and the Devils once again fighting to gain possession and string passes together. Despite some excellent tackling, especially from debutant Tanya Nayda and veteran Kate Sliney, two lapses of concentration allowed the Seoul Sisters to build a lead as they ran in two first half tries.
The second half was a different story, however, as the Devils began to shake off their nerves and play with increased confidence, aggression and communication. Erin Hackett made several barnstorming runs into Seoul territory to put them under pressure and it finally became too much – sprightly youngster Tamara Cano emerged from a ruck with ball in hand and ran in a break away try from the half way line to bring the Devils back into the game.
Despite continued pressure it was not to be for the She Devils, and Seoul held on a deserved 10-5 victory, but there was much to be pleased with and the Devils ensured they could go into their second game with added determination and confidence.
